This past week I have received a couple of private messages asking me if everything was okay with me. That some of my posts were indicating that something was not right. They would be correct.

As I have discussed before Facebook life and real life are not the same thing. I share a lot on Facebook. A lot of articles that I read (and I read A LOT). I share food photos (maybe too many). I take selfies (not as much as Kim Kardashian), and post from different activities and events that I participate in.

But not really personal details. Like I lost my job two weeks ago. A job that I really enjoyed.

As you know, I had a job change last November. I moved from the retail part of the travel industry to the wholesale part of the industry. It was a great fit for me. I loved all the new challenges that were put in front of me and faced them head on.

My company was a ‘start up’ in the travel industry. The owners owned the airline, but never owned a vacation tour operator. They decided that they were not willing to continue to take the risks of operating a tour operator business and closed our operation down.

We had been somewhat ‘expecting’ it to happen, but even when you can see the writing on the wall, when it is finally written in permanent ink and not erasable chalk, it hits you in the gut. Hard.

So the big question is – what now? what’s next? I wish I had those answers.

I have done a lot of soul searching. I like what the last seven months has brought out in me. It was such a great place to work, with great people. With new and exciting professional challenges that I was ready to take on. Now I need to find the next professional challenge.

Do I want to stay in the travel industry – yes of course I would love to do that. I have made a 25 (yes I started when I was 12) year career in this industry. I have 20 years of call centre experience. I have bricks and mortar branch experience. I have worked from home. I have done it all. I have knowledge in social media, photography and of course writing.

And I can use all of those skills for I am sure any number of different companies out there. I think that all options are open possibilities and I would entertain any and all suggestions and leads.

I am putting it out in the universe (Facebook universe) that if you can help me, I would greatly appreciate it all.
