What do you get when you team up talented musicians like Cyndi Lauper and Sara Bareilles and amazing TV personality and breast Cancer survivor Hoda Kotb to raise money and awareness for childhood cancers? You get something which is nothing short of breathtaking, outstanding and heartwarming.
If you haven’t seen the video yet, I will be sharing it below. It really doesn’t need any other explanation. It is Cyndi’s song True Colours, and Sara’s song Brave in a remarkable mashup song and video.
The words of the song speak volumes even without the video imaging, but the video is outstanding. If you are anything like me, you will need tissue. This video has been viewed 1, 602, 355 times. It is something that will make you smile, sing and probably tear up.
True Colours:
You with the sad eyes
Don’t be discouraged
Oh I realize
It’s hard to take courage
In a world full of people
You can lose sight of it all
And the darkness inside you
Can make you feel so small
But I see your true colors
Shining through
I see your true colors
And that’s why I love you
So don’t be afraid to let them show
Your true colors
True colors are beautiful,
Like a rainbow
Show me a smile then,
Don’t be unhappy, can’t remember
When I last saw you laughing
If this world makes you crazy
And you’ve taken all you can bear
You call me up
Because you know I’ll be there.
Brave:
You can be amazing
You can turn a phrase into a weapon or a drug
You can be the outcast
Or be the backlash of somebody’s lack of love
Or you can start speaking up
Nothing’s gonna hurt you the way that words do
When they settle ‘neath your skin
Kept on the inside and no sunlight
Sometimes a shadow wins
But I wonder what would happen if you
Say what you wanna say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
With what you want to say
And let the words fall out
Honestly I wanna see you be brave
Everybody’s been there,
Everybody’s been stared down by the enemy
Fallen for the fear
And done some disappearing,
Bow down to the mighty
Don’t run, just stop holding your tongue
Maybe there’s a way out of the cage where you live
Maybe one of these days you can let the light in
Show me how big your brave is
