Hadassah Tea and Fundraising event 2012

Last year I was asked by my friends to take over the fundraising chair postition of the Hadassah Chapter. They know that I enjoy volunteering, charity work, fundraising and event planning and thought it would be a good fit for me. I accepted the challenge and now was part of the exec.

I was in BBYO growing up and part of a chapter and it was a great learning tool as a teen to learn about how executives work, meet, plan, delegate and execute. As an adult, it is also more challenging, because you are now dealing with adults and every changing lives, families, situations. It certainly proves to be more challenging in adulthood.

So, our main fundraising event for the programming year was put into motion – a fundraising tea and purse auction. What is a purse auction you may ask? Well, it is easy actually – you ask everyone you know if they have gently used purses that they want to donate, and then you put together a silent auction to raise money (full post on executing to follow).

As fundraising chair I also asked everyone to ask people that they knew that were in the baking fields to donate baked goods and services to our tea. The contributions were OUTSTANDING and ABUNDANT. You cannot imagine the amazing aray of baked goods that were donated to our amazing tea. (Post to follow with all the names of the providers).

I am happy to report that our efforts netted out over $600 to CHW – Hadassah – Children Healthcare and Women – who have been helping in Canada and Israel for almost 100 years.

I know that this was the first and hopefully to become an annual event for our chapter.

Thank you to all of those who helped make the event a success!
